Learn to cook Thai food from scratch in the countryside outside Chiang Mai, starting at a local market and continuing at an organic farm where you pick fresh ingredients and cook your own meal. Thai Farm Cooking School gives you your own cooking station and mortar, so you actually make the food yourself from curry paste through dessert.
This is a full-day Thai cooking class at an organic farm approximately 17 km from Chiang Mai city. The experience begins with hotel pickup in the provider's pickup zone, followed by a visit to a local market where the instructor introduces Thai ingredients, rice, fresh coconut milk, and seasoning products.
At the farm, you'll learn about the herbs, vegetables, and fruits grown there and have the opportunity to pick fresh ingredients for your dishes. You then cook at your own individual station, making curry paste from scratch with your own mortar and preparing six categories of food completely yourself, from start to finish.
The full-day format gives you additional time to learn jasmine and sticky rice preparation and includes a stir-fry category and papaya salad tasting. You finish by eating your meal on the farm's terrace overlooking the fishpond and nearby mountains.
It's positioned as the first and original Thai cooking school run at an organic farm in Chiang Mai, operating since 2001. The farm setting means ingredients come straight from the ground rather than a market stall alone, and the Full Day format adds extra depth over the Half Day option, including rice-making and an additional stir-fry category. [Note: this line was Small House content, removing] The menu's flexibility across vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free options makes it a safer choice for groups with mixed dietary needs than schools with a fixed menu
